The Worcester-based Reliant Medical Group Foundation has awarded $70,000 in its latest round of community grants to Central Massachusetts organizations in support of curbing childhood obesity and increasing access to health care.
Non-profit organizations within Reliant’s service area were eligible to apply for grants, with the majority of the latest recipients “taking on various aspects of battling obesity, which continues to be a serious health epidemic, especially for those who are economically disadvantaged,” Reliant’s Director of Philanthropy Kelsa Zereski said in a statement.
The grants are funded by Reliant employees, patients, and corporate sponsors, according to Reliant.
“We continue to be thankful for the outpouring of support from the Central Massachusetts community. Without them, our charity’s innovative grant-making program would not be possible,” Zereski said.
The latest grant recipients are: A Little Easier Recovery; Auburn Youth and Family Services; Barton Center for Diabetes Education; Dismas House; Growing Places; Pernet Family Services; Rachel’s Table; Regional Environmental Council; Seven Hills; Visitation House; VNA Care and YouthConnect Summer.
The deadline to apply for the next round of Reliant Medical Foundation grants is Sept. 12. Initiatives that battle childhood obesity will be given priority.
