Reliant Medical Group announced the appointment of Dr. Robert Harizi as the Worcester-based organization’s new chief of cardiology. He will replace Dr. Stephen Pezzella, the group’s longtime chair who is retiring after 37 years.
Harizi, who practices clinical and invasive cardiology, has been with Reliant for 30 years. He said in a statement that he’s “excited to carry (Pezzella’s) legacy forward and to ensure that our patients continue to have access to the highest quality heart care possible.”
Harizi received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1981 and completed his residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He did his cardiology training UMass Memorial Medical Center before joining Reliant in 1987, when it was known as Fallon Clinic. Reliant employs more than 500 providers at over 25 locations across Central Massachusetts.
