Normally a venue for networking events, comedy shows, and casual conversations, Redemption Rock Brewing in Worcester has cooked up a bit more intense event, as the craft beer brewery and taproom is set to host a wrestling event by Worcester-based promotion Beyond Wrestling.

The event will be held at 7:30 p.m on May 11 at Redemption Rock’s Shrewsbury Street taproom.

“We love using our taproom space for fun and creative events - and this is probably going to be one of the biggest and most ambitious events we've ever done,” Dan Carlson, co-founder and head of marketing at Redemption Rock, said in an email to WBJ.  “Turning the taproom into a wrestling venue is going to be a crazy undertaking, but it's going to be an awesome experience for both brewery fans and wrestling fans.”

Founded in Ohio in 2019, Beyond Wrestling is an independent professional wrestling promotion that moved its primary location to Worcester in 2017, according to CageMatch.net, an online database chronicling the professional wrestling scene.

Beyond hosts Wrestling Open, an event designed to give newcomers to the sport the chance to take on more experienced wrestlers, every Thursday at The White Eagle in Worcester. The promotion has previously held events at the Electric Haze hookah bar and lounge in Worcester.

Independent promotions like Beyond serve as a de facto minor league system for prominent promotions like WWE and All Elite Wrestling, offering wrestlers a chance to hone their craft in hopes of attracting the attention of larger promotions.

The event will be standing-room only, with general admission tickets costing $20 and early admission tickets going for $25.

This event is the latest in a line of collaborations between the brewery and other local institutions; Redemption Rock teamed up with the Hanover Theatre Repertory earlier in April to launch a Shakespeare-inspired beer.
