Record Lows For National Home Prices

In the past year, home prices in 20 major U.S. cities have dropped 15.3 percent, according to the Case-Shiller home price index.

Home prices have decreased by nearly 18 percent from their peak two years ago, the index said. Thirteen of the 20 cities tracked by Case-Shiller posted record declines in home prices in April and 10 cities showed double-digit declines.

Prices were down in all 20 cities compared with April 2006, according to the index. The Case-Shiller index tracks sales of the same homes over time.
