The October Realtor Market Index compiled by the Massachusetts Association of Realtors recorded its first month-to-month increase since April, but lagged well behind the year-ago score.
The index registered a 20.75 score in October, 39 percent lower than the 34.19 it hit a year prior and the fifth straight month of year-over-year declines.
The index, which is scored on a 100-point scale, was 19.39 in September.
MAR said it is optimistic about interest rates that have remained low and moderate improvements in the state’s unemployment rate.
