Real Estate Market Confidence Up

The Massachusetts Association of Realtors (MAR) reported continued improved confidence in the real estate market in October, as its Realtor Market Confidence Index rose for the 15th month in a row.

Trisha McCarthy, president of MAR, noted that confidence among members remained high amid the presidential campaign and Hurricane Sandy.

The MAR Realtor Market Confidence Index was 58.38 in October, up 125 percent from October 2011, and 1.1 percent from September.

"With the peak of election season and the tragedy of Hurricane Sandy all taking place in October, confidence in the real estate market still stayed strong," McCarthy said. "It is essential that the real estate market keep moving in a positive direction to help lead the economy to a full recovery."

Also rising in October was the MAR Realtor Price Confidence Index. It increased to 68.68 last month, a 57-percent increase year over year, and a 7-percent increase from September. October's index marked an all-time high, according to MAR.
