Real Art Ways Awarded Major Grant From The Institute of Museum and Library Services

Real Art Ways in Hartford has been selected as the recipient of a substantial grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to help cultivate community and foster civic engagement.

The IMLS' Museums for America program, the nation's largest federal funding program for museums, funds selected organizations across America, ranging from history, science and art museums to zoo. The grant recipients were announced July 31, 2007.

As part of its initiative entitled "Engaging Community," Real Art Ways will receive $139,871 to build its senior citizen audience through daytime programming, and to promote engagement and connections in its neighborhoods through public art programs. Real Art Ways will commission four community art projects in the Parkville and Frog Hollow areas of Hartford.

"This is an opportunity for Real Art Ways to grow our audiences and celebrate our neighborhoods," says Will K. Wilkins, Real Art Ways Executive Director. "It is an honor to be recognized at the national level."
