Readers: More, better rail can put region on right track

The MBTA last week expanded round-trip service on the Worcester-to-Boston commuter rail line to 20 round trips each weekday. That was aided by upgrades of the line’s Yawkey Station, which added a second set of tracks, allowing for the expansion. Officials here hope the expansion of service on that line and improvements on the Fitchburg line will help bring more people out to Central Massachusetts from Boston and suburbs inside Interstate 495. In last week’s poll, readers overwhelmingly agree.
