Raytheon Company will launch a pilot program in the Midwest that will provide first responders and public safety officials with improved communications services.
The six-month program will be conducted in the Quad Cities region of Illinois and Iowa, helping to improve communications systems by way of providing remote broadband access and other new capabilities like mobile situatinal awareness.
The public-private partnership will be lead by Raytheon and several partners, including Nortel Government Solutions, New Era Wireless, and NexPort Solutions Group, among others. The Quad Cities pilot will includes the following cities: Davenport, IA; Bettendorf, IA; Moiline, East Moline, Rock Island, and Milan, Ill.
"Raytheon is increasing its focus on the civil communications market and has the expertise to support first responsers and public safety officials perform with improved speed and efficiency so they can provide enhanced safety in their communities," said Jerry Powlen, vice president, Integrated Communications Systems, a part of Raytheon's Network Centric Systems business in Marlboro.
