Raytheon Acquires Division Of IT Firm

Raytheon Co., which has operations in Marlborough, has acquired the government business of SafeNet Inc., a privately held data security firm, to help support the federal government's growing need for protected, encrypted data, Raytheon announced.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Raytheon said the transaction will not materially impact its sales or earnings per share for the current quarte r or for 2013.

The SafeNet products that are part of its government business include encryption products for all levels of integration, and target high-speed, satellite, networking, data link, voice, key management and wireless communication markets. SafeNet is based in Torrance, Calif., and employs 170, according to Raytheon.
