Two business leaders in Dudley have teamed up to request the town’s permission to build and operate eight 6,500-square-foot cannabis cultivation greenhouses on a parcel of land near the Quinebaug River Reservoir.
The greenhouses would be built on a piece of land off Fish Road, a dead end. The proposal comes from Fish Road LLC, a limited liability corporation composed of Jonathan Androlewicz, vice president and general manager of Dudley-based Rampco Construction Co., and Webster native Joseph Villatico, CEO of DMA Holdings.
DMA Holdings is in the process of building out a 175,000-square-foot old mill building on Chase Avenue in Dudley, where the company plans to run a cannabis cultivation, manufacturing and retail business.
Under the proposal, according to a presentation from a Monday board of selectmen meeting proposing a host community agreement, which is needed before applying for licensure with the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, the pair would work together to cultivate cannabis to supplement DMA’s supply.
Under the arrangement between the two businessmen, Androlewicz and his family would provide the land, infrastructure, startup capital and construction of the greenhouse buildings. Fish Road will then contract with DMA to provide genetics, management and administrative services. Fish Road will hold its own cultivation license with the CCC, separate from DMA.
The land, which abuts an operational Rampco facility, is already appropriately zoned for the proposed project.
Selectmen took no immediate action on the proposed host community agreement Monday night, although Fish Road project plans hope to begin sitework next month.
