Hudson’s Rail Trail Flatbread Co. is eyeing Milford as a possible location to expand, the company and town officials confirmed.
Representatives from the iconic restaurant and business group appeared at a meeting of Milford’s Downtown Revitalization Committee.
According to Milford Selectman Bill Buckley, there’s interest from the company’s partners to purchase and renovate the Rockland Trust building at 221 Main St. in Milford.
Lindsay Tierney, a spokesperson for the restaurant group, called the meeting routine and one the company does regularly throughout New England.
“We are always exploring new ideas in surrounding communities,” she said, adding there are currently no expansion plans.
The company in April polled its Facebook users about communities in which to expand and in September said another New City Microcreamery -- a sister restaurant and ice cream shop across the street from Rail Trail in Hudson -- would open in Cambridge.
The 12,474-square-foot former Rockland Trust building in Milford is listed with Framingham-based Parsons Commercial Group, but the price is subject to offer, according to the listing.
The address is still listed as a branch on Rockland Trust’s website. The bank recently acquired Milford National Bank, but the bank did not detail plans for the location.
For Milford’s downtown efforts, the company would be the perfect fit, Buckley said.
“They look like the perfect business and perfect family given their success in Hudson,” he said.
The restaurant group, which includes speakeasy Less Than Greater Than, is widely popular in Central Massachusetts and throughout the state, known for its business model and service.
