Ragged Hill Cider Company is opening a tasting room at its parent company’s West Brookfield orchard and bottling plant.
A small tasting room is expected to open in late September in an apple barn at the Ragged Hill Orchard’s West Brookfield location, said Anne Garwood-Hampp, co-founder of the cidery.
The Ragged Hill Orchard’s entry into the hard cider industry began this summer after it obtained necessary licenses and formed the cider company last year. It began selling the cider made from the company’s 60-acre fall 2016 apples earlier this summer, according to Garwood-Hampp.
Hard cider from the orchard can now be found at the company’s orchard and cidery at 94 John Gilbert Road, Carter and Stevens Farm Store in Barre, Homefield Brewing in Sturbridge and the West Brookfield Farmers Market on Wednesdays until Oct. 11 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“With this tasting room, we’ll hopefully reach out to more people,” Garwood-Hampp said.
The company is expecting to open the tasting room on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Sept. 23.
“We’ve been working towards this for several years,” orchard founder Keith Arsenault said in a press release. “ We’ve been planting new trees and refining our skills, [and] now we’ve got some remarkable ciders to offer.”
