Quest acquiring Cape Cod Healthcare’s lab services

Quest Diagnostics announced Tuesday it will acquire Cape Cod Healthcare’s outreach laboratory services business for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition is expected to improve access to laboratory services for people on Cape Cod, and to lower costs, according to a press release from the diagnostics healthcare company, which has operations in Marlborough.
Through the partnership, Cape Cod patients will have access to thousands of clinical laboratory tests, including advanced and novel genetic sequencing tests for cancer, neurological disorders and other diseases. Cape Cod Healthcare and Quest are exploring ways to collaborate in population health and data analytics, among other areas.
Cape Cod Healthcare’s hospital-based laboratories and the inpatient and outpatient services it provides aren’t included in the transaction. The acquisition is subject to approval from the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission.
