Quality Beverage to acquire Western Mass. beer distributor

Taunton beer distributor Quality Beverage is acquiring Chicopee’s Williams Distributing to become the largest independent beer supplier in the state and the leading distributor of Anheuser-Bush InBev products.

Terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.

Williams Distributing has operated in Western Massachusetts since 1950, distributing national brands like Aheuser-Bush InBev, Constellation and Yuengling, but also local craft brews from Wormtown Brewery in Worcester and Harpoon Brewery in Boston. 

Quality Beverage also has a large presence in Central Massachusetts, including an Auburn facility and a reach through 51 towns in Worcester County. 

Also located in Auburn are the home facilities of Atlas Distributing, which claims its territory in a large section of Central Massachusetts and parts of MetroWest. 

Atlas Distributing Owner and President Joseph Salois could not immediately be reached for comment.
