Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester has been chosen as an education partner for Amazon’s Career Choice program, allowing hourly employees for the Seattle-based online retailer to access QCC programs spanning over 120 associate degrees and certificates.
As its warehouses push to fill thousands of open positions and the company tries to fend off unionization efforts, Amazon has spent $1.2 billion to upskill more than 300,000 employees in the U.S. by 2025.
The QCC courses will be offered on days, nights, and weekends and are available in-person, virtually, or a hybrid of both. Other academic resources and support services will be offered, including individualized academic advising, tutoring, mentoring, career coaching, and counseling.
“We’re looking forward to Quinsigamond Community College coming on board as an education partner for Career Choice, adding to the hundreds of best-in-class offerings available to our employees,” Tammy Thieman, global program lead of Amazon’s Career Choice program, said in a Monday press release. “We have intentionally created a partner network of third-party educators and employers committed to providing excellent education, job placement resources, and continuous improvements to the experience. Today, over 90,000 Amazon employees around the world have already participated in Career Choice.
