Quinsigamond Community College has received a $250,000 state grant and MassHire Metro South/West $219,000 to help unemployed or underemployed people fill in-demand jobs.

The Worcester school will train workers for jobs in health care and social assistance and MassHire Metro South/West, a job and career services office based in Marlborough with an office in Framingham, will help workers train for jobs in transportation and warehouse work.

They were two of 18 entities to receive funding from the Gov. Charlie Baker Administration, with $4.2 million in total announced Sept. 30.

Funding went to four community colleges, four state career services offices, as well as labor groups and others to help train for jobs in areas including food service and hospitality, construction, finance and insurance, and transportation and warehousing. The grants are named in memory of state Sen. Kenneth Donnelly, who died in 2017.
