The Quinsigamond Community College Foundation in Worcester received a pledge of $20,000 over four years from Worcester’s Cornerstone Bank to help advance the college’s offerings at its Southbridge location.
QCC opened its Southbridge location in 2020 in Southbridge High School as a way to better serve southern Worcester County residents.
It offers for-credit courses for students aiming for a degree and free non-credit courses to prepare potential students for college and for workforce development in the medical and veterinary fields.
“Our Southbridge location provides convenient and affordable college coursework to about 300 students each year and is expanding to include transitional early college coursework at no cost to students in partnership with Southbridge Public Schools. Cornerstone’s generosity will support our college programming and early college initiatives for local high school students, strengthening and increasing retention and completion in general education, certificate, and degree-specific courses,” said Linda Maykel, president of the QCC Foundation in a Tuesday press release.
