Sales of semiconductors for the second quarter were 20 percent below the same period a year ago, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association.
During the quarter chip sales hit $51.7 billion. That’s a 17 percent increase from the first quarter when sales were $44.2 billion, but 20 percent less than the $64.7 billion the association recorded for the second quarter of 2008.
Year-to-date sales of $95.9 billion were 25 percent below the first six months of 2008, when sales were $127.5 billion.
