La Casa Del Mofongo, a Puerto Rican restaurant on the corner of Main Street and May Street in Worcester, announced in a Facebook post it was closing on Aug. 7, after reopening in June from a prolonged closure.
The storefront at 898 Main Street is now vacant.
Michael and Rae Ann Maranda have owned the property since 2005 when they bought the parcels for $650,000, according to the Worcester County Registry of Deeds.
Michael Maranda is also the owner of PennyWise Market at 3 May St. He was unavailable for comment on Thursday.
In April 2019, the restaurant’s then manager, Francisco Ortiz-Rivera, was arrested with 10 others for opioid trafficking, according to an archived press release on Mass.gov.
