Protonex Makes New Wearable Power Systems

Southborough fuel cell power system company Protonex Technology Corp. has created two new power systems that can be worn by members of the military.

The company said the power managers minimize the number of batteries and different types of batteries that soldiers must carry. They are smaller, lighter and easier to configure than previous Protonex products.

The products can monitor battery usage, manage charging and scavenge power form found energy sources, the company said.

For FY 2008, the company saw a net loss of $10.9 million on revenues of $7.9 million.
