Southborough manufacturer Protonex will supply another $1 million worth of personal power management kits to U.S. Army brigades deployed overseas.Â
The device, the SPM-622 Squad Power Manager, prioritizes energy needs on a soldier and is capable of scavenging power from a variety of sources while functioning as a universal power hub.
The device supports a wide range of electronics for medical use, explosive ordinance demolition, unmanned air and ground systems, communication systems, targeting systems, smartphones and other devices.
So far this year, Protonex, a subsidiary of Vancouver-based Ballard Power Systems, has received $3.5 million worth of purchase orders from the U.S. Army.
