Protonex lands $1.9M military power device order

Southborough manufacturer of U.S. soldier power kits Protonex has received another $1.9 million order from a U.S. Army division working with allied nations in combat training.

The purchase order is for the SPM-622 Squad Power Manager, a compact and durable device that can scavenge power from a battery, solar, vehicle and other energy sources to power the multitude of devices soldiers carry in the field.

The new supply comes just three months after a $1.6-million purchase order in January for the U.S. Army Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFAB) which partners with allied nations to conduct training and advising.

The new order is a follow-on purchase order from that initial January supply.

The U.S. Army’s focus on the SAFB program, which assists and trains allied nations in sometimes underdeveloped countries, is necessitating the need for devices to power equipment, Protonex said.
