Southborough-based fuel cell manufacturer Protonex Technology Corp. has partnered with diesel engine maker Cummins Inc. in an effort to build fuel cells for recreational vehicles.
The partnership between Protonex and Cummins’ Onan unit will conduct field testing on a line of Protonex fuel cells designed for RVs. Cummins will provide Protonex with marketing assistance and is in the process of becoming a certified installer of the Protonex system.
The Protonex system is fueled by methanol and integrates with other power systems typically found in RVs, such as deep-cycle batteries, generators, solar panels and alternators.
