A vacant former Bob's Stores at Shoppers World in Framingham would be divided in two under a proposal to the city.
The 50,000-square-foot space has been empty since last year. A plan from Shoppers World calls for dividing the space into 40,000- and 10,000-square-foot spaces. A new entrance would be built for the smaller of the two spaces.
A Planning Board hearing on the proposal is scheduled for Thursday evening at 7.
New tenants at the former Bob's Stores space will continue retailer turnover at Shoppers World. HomeSense and Sierra Trading Post are inside a former Sports Authority, and Kohl's opened at a former Bradlees. A former Linens 'n Things is now Nordstrom Rack.
Shoppers World has two other big-box vacancies where Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us closed earlier this year. The plaza has separately been approved for a seven-story building with two retail spaces and 175 apartments on what is today a parking lot.
