The latest draft of the Boston region's transportation improvement program includes funding for stormwater improvements along Route 20 in Marlborough and Sudbury, bridge preservation projects in Boston and Randolph, and pavement work on Route 2 in Lexington, Belmont, Arlington and Cambridge.
According to the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the draft 2016–2020 program, which is undergoing a 30-day public review period that ends Jan. 19, 2016, also removes line items to reflect highway projects completed earlier than planned and includes changes to project costs.
The MPO is expected to vote on the draft, known as Amendment Two, at a meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 in Conference Rooms 2 and 3 of the State Transportation Building, Ten Park Plaza, in Boston. The draft is available on the TIP page of the MPO’s website, www.bostonmpo.org.
Featuring 22 voting members, the MPO is responsible for planning within a region encompassing 101 cities and towns, from Boston to Ipswich in the north, Duxbury in the south, and to approximately Interstate 495 in the west. The region is home to three million people and about two million jobs.
