Proficiency lands $5M more in venture funding

The two venture capital groups that support Proficiency Inc. - Carmel Ventures and Pitango Venture Capital - are pumping $5 million more into the Westboro-based software company.

The cash will allow Proficiency to broaden its market reach, and will allow its customers to share product designs between different systems. Proficiency is a supplier of software products used in the automotive, aerospace and defense industries.

Shlomo Dovrat, general partner and co-founder of Carmel Ventures, said the company's unique technology and strong management "is well poised for the next phase of its growth."

Aaron Mankovski, managing general partner of Pitango Venture Capital, said Proficiency has succeeded in making products that major manufacturers need. "The market need for Proficiency's solutions is being validated," he said.

Proficiency's customers include the Ford Motor Co., Boeing, Bombardier and the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co.
