Productivity Up In Q1

U.S. productivity increased 2.6 percent in the non-farm business sector during the first quarter, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

The department said the increase was partially the result of well-controlled labor costs, which rose 2.2 percent.

In manufacturing, productivity increased 3.6 percent in the first quarter of 2008, and labor costs rose 4.2 percent.
