Primetals Technologies announced Tuesday that it will provide upgrades to a Vietnamese wire rod mill that will improve the factory’s quality.
The Worcester company will upgrade steel maker Vina Kyoei’s wire rod mill in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, Vietnam. Primetals will replace equipment, including the mill’s existing pinch roll and laying head; install its own SR Series pipe to extend the mill’s laying head pipe life and improve the laying pattern; and supply electrical and automation packaging to integrate the new equipment. According to Primetals, project commissioning is expected to happen early next year. The company did not disclose the value of the contract.
