The Worcester location of U.K.-based metal mill manufacturer Primetals Technologies has landed a contract with an India-based steel company to build a new wire rod mills next year.
Mumbai-based JSW Steel Limited has purchased its third set of wire rod mills from Primetals, which has been operating a Worcester location for decades.
The new mill is a two-strand wire rod mill including two independent rolling lines to expand JSW’s capacity.
In addition to building and installing the mill at JSW’s Toranagallu, India location, the contact between the two companies includes site supervision and spare parts.
Once complete, the mill will operate at a maximum speed of 115 meters per second and can produce 220 tons per hour and 1.2 million metric tons of wire rod per year.
