Metal manufacturer Primetals Technologies on Wednesday named Yoshiharu Ikeda as its new president and CEO for the company’s U.S. headquarters based in Worcester.
Ikeda was promoted to the post after previously serving as head of strategy and communication in the company’s London headquarters since its founding in 2015.
His predecessor, Satoru Iijima, has taken a new position at the company’s regional headquarters in Hiroshima.
Ikeda began his career with Japan-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in 1985, which with Germany-based Siemens, forms the joint venture that became Primetals Technologies.
From 1989 to 2000, Ikeda held sales and project management positions with the company. He joined Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery (MHMM) -- an MHI consolidated group company -- and was involved in North American projects.
From 2011 to 2015, Ikeda led MHMM strategy teams in Hiroshima and Tokyo before joining Primetals Technologies as the company’s global head of strategy and communication in the London headquarters.
The company employs about 1,100 employees in 14 locations in the country.
