A copper rod mill manufactured in the Worcester location of metal product manufacturer Primetals will eventually find its way to China for the production of tough pitch copper.
The mill is set to be installed in The Jiangsu Province of China for Jiangsu ZGR New Material Co., a company based in the city of Yixing.
The SCR-7000 copper rod mill will be installed by Georgia wire and cable producer Southwire Co., which signed a contract with ZGR.
Primetals will provide engineering, equipment and installation supervision for the rolling mill equipment, which includes a 13-stand Morgan No-Twist mill, a 24-inch entry shear, intermediate shear and other related systems.
The mill is expected to run 48 metric tons per hour and up to 315,000 tons per year.
ZGR is expected to begin using the mill in 2019.
