Worcester’s second medical marijuana dispensary could open in a new 4,500-square-foot building on Pullman Street next month.
Prime Wellness, a Connecticut-based marijuana company, received Worcester Board of Health approval to open. Now, the company just needs the city’s fire department to sign off on the building.
The company plans to eventually open the location for recreational marijuana sales, but the company has yet to submit an application to the state’s Cannabis Control Commission despite an adult-use host community agreement being reached with the city earlier this year.
As of Aug. 30, Prime Wellness is one of 31 adult-use cannabis locations seeking city approval.
CEO John Glowik told the Board of Health on Monday the company has three medical marijuana dispensary licenses from the state, including the Pullman Street location and two others in Shrewsbury and Leominster.
Cannabis products are grown and manufactured in a facility in Sterling.
According to the state’s medical marijuana program website, none of the company's dispensaries are currently open for sales.
Good Chemistry, Worcester's first dispensary, has been operating a medical dispensary on Harrison Street since early August.
