New York-based Northeast Grocery, Inc., parent company of Price Chopper and Market 32 supermarkets, has named John Persons as the company’s new chief operating officer and Mike Miller as chief administrative officer, both newly-created positions at the company.
Persons will oversee both the Price Chopper/Market 32 and Tops Markets operating companies, as well as the Northeast Shared Services merchandising and marketing functions. He was previously the president of Tops Markets. He has served with Tops for 39 years, according to a Thursday press release from Northeast Grocery.
“After nearly 40 years of learning and growing with Tops, I’m excited to continue building the company in this new role, working collaboratively with the talented teams at Tops and Price Chopper/Market 32 to help our combined businesses meet the grocery needs of the communities we serve,” Persons said in the press release.
The company promoted Mike Miller to chief administrative officer from his position as senior vice president of human resources. In his new role, Miller will lead the human resources, legal, government affairs, corporate communications, public relations, and risk management functions, as well as oversee merger integration.
Locally, Price Chopper and Market 32 have locations in Gardner, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Shrewsbury, Spencer, Sutton, Webster, and Worcester. The supermarkets employ 1,589 people in Central Massachusetts according to data submitted to the WBJ Research Department.
