Who is your most influential role model, and why?
My parents have played an instrumental part in both my education and my professional development and are influential role models for me. To this day, they are a constant source of encouragement and guidance. They opened my eyes to a wider variety of career options. I was always given the opportunity to excel at what I enjoyed and to pursue my dreams. Through my father and mother, I learned that collaboration, compassion and treating others with respect go hand in hand with perseverance, lifelong learning, and taking pride in who you are and what you do.
I am passionate about my work and I love what I do. That makes me work harder and give my best for my clients each day. Providing the highest quality personalized legal services to my clients with integrity, being dedicated in the pursuit of my client’s interests, being accessible and responsive, fostering open, long-term relationships with my clients and delivering business results are the hallmarks of my practice. Providing value for our clients and exceeding their expectations are the key measures of success for my firm.
At Mithras Law Group we believe charitable giving, community involvement, civic engagement and helping those with limited means is important for the greater good and plays an important role in the firm’s mission. I serve on boards and committees of several nonprofits as well as volunteer legal services. I was appointed by Gov. Deval Patrick to serve as a commissioner on the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, which provides a permanent, effective voice for women across Massachusetts. This year I am co-chairing the commission’s Unsung Heroine event, which recognizes 100 women across Massachusetts for their outstanding contributions to their organizations and communities.
Compartmentalizing my stress as well as making time for myself to decompress helps me regain control, stay calm and manage stress. Meditation exercises, walking, painting, cooking, spending time with my family, or watching a funny movie are all therapeutic for me.
I believe the work/life balance are part of the same sphere and can co-exist in harmony. Such a balance is easier to achieve over time with experience and support. Building flexibility into my schedule, prioritizing my daily goals, having a realistic expectation of myself and of course having a supportive spouse have all been part of the equation for me. Having my own legal practice gives me greater flexibility in terms of scheduling but the challenge is that it can be all consuming. I remind myself to look at the bigger picture, live in the moment, plan fun things to do with my family on weekends and treat myself every so often.
