Mayhew Basque Plastics of Leominster will open a new production and distribution center in Westminster that will create 45 jobs with the potential for more.
The information was disseminated in an announcement Monday of a 131,871 square-foot lease. The lease, from Hackman Capital Partners and Calare Properties, will take place at Route 2 Commerce Park, located at 100 Simplex Drive, in Westminster.
“Both our Leominster and Clinton facilities are at capacity, and demand for our product lines is increasing every quarter,” Chris Salinas, general manager and part owner of Mayhew Basque, said in a statement. “The new facility will give us the ability to do leaner manufacturing and ‘Just In Time’ inventory control for our regular customers.”
The new facility will make use of 31 injection molding machines and with mold makers on site, increasing the speed of product development, Salinas said.
The building is situated approximately 20 minutes west of Mayhew Basque’s facility in Leominster. The company will create 45 immediate jobs in its new location, with more on the way as its operations continue to grow, according to Hackman
The Westminster property was part of an 11.38-million-square-foot industrial portfolio purchased in 2007 by a joint venture formed by Hackman Capital Partners, Calare Properties and KBS Real Estate Investment Trust. The bulk of that portfolio -- 23 buildings, totaling 7.4 million square feet -- is located in the Northeast.
