A plan before the Framingham Planning Board would replace a TGI Friday's at Shoppers World with three new retailers, along with a fourth in a new building next door.
The TGI Fridays would make way for two smaller restaurants in the same building and a small retailer in between, totaling 6,300 square feet. Another new restaurant, a proposed coffee shop, would also be built in a standalone 2,200-square-foot building just on the other side of what has been TGI Friday's parking lot facing Route 9.
TGI Fridays is still open today, but the restaurant chain will not be renewing its lease, according to Framingham Source.
If approved, the change would be the latest to come to Shoppers World. In the past few years, a former Toys R Us has become a Hobby Lobby, while Bob’s Stores, Babies ‘R’ Us and Joe’s American Bar & Grill have all also recently departed. HomeSense and Sierra Trading Post are also among newer tenants, having taken over a former Sports Authority.
