Photo Finish

On Jan. 9, representatives from Fallon Community Health Plan in Worcester presented a community benefits grant of $13,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester. The grant will support the club's education programs for at-risk adolescents in Worcester. Employees of Rollstone Bank & Trust's seven branches donated a percentage of their own salaries to raise funds for the United Way of Central Massachusetts in Worcester. With 91 percent of the bank's employees taking part, the bank raised $35,000 for the nonprofit organization. Saint Gobain, an international manufacturer of high-performance abrasives with operations in Central Mass., recently contributed $165,000 from its corporate foundation to the United Way of Central Massachusetts. The donation represented the foundation's largest single gift to any nonprofit organization in the United States. Patriot Ambulance Inc. of Chelmsford recently pledged $30,000 to Marlborough Hospital, making the company the 10th member of the hospital's â€œPresident's Circle,â€ a group of businesses and philanthropic leaders committed to supporting health care for community members. The donation, which will be paid over the course of three years, will support the hospital's general fund. Over the course of four recent regional forums, the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts in Fitchburg awarded a total of $10,000 in â€œManaging for Excellenceâ€ grants to six local agencies: the Athol Salvation Army, Loaves and Fishes of Devens, the Gardner Community Action Committee, the Orange Food Pantry, Ginny's Helping Hand of Leominster, and Our Father's House of Fitchburg.
