The Doctor Franklin Perkins School in Lancaster has named 10 new trustees through its new affiliation agreement with Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps, also of Lancaster, the school announced on Tuesday.
The affiliation agreement, which went into effect on Sept. 1, included a provision which added eight trustees from the RFK board to the Perkins board. Two more trustees were added to the board on the Nov. 20 Perkins annual meeting, for a total of 10 new trustees.
“We’re thrilled to be growing the board as we also grow the organization and our impact,” said Suzanne Frisch, chair of the board of trustees, in a statement. "The individuals joining the board, many of whom have already been very involved, each bring important skills and expertise to the work we do at Perkins.”
The two agencies, in announcing their affiliation agreement, said they expect to serve 2,000 people annually through their programs. Their centers are located within two miles of each other, and they share similar missions. The Perkins School provides day and residential education for youth and adults with developmental, learning and behavioral challenges. The RFK Children's Action Corps provides child welfare services, as well as residential and community-based programs for youth and families around the state.
