Work is nearly complete on a 60,000-square-foot, three-story addition to PerkinElmer’s Hopkinton campus, the company said.
The expanded Center for Personalized Health Innovation will open by the end of the month, according to company spokeswoman Fara Goldberg. PerkinElmer has already expanded its headcount in Hopkinton by 55 this year, Goldberg said, and plans to add another 20 across the Bay State by the end of the year.
The addition will bring PerkinElmer’s Hopkinton footprint to 200,000 square feet, Goldberg said. The health and safety products manufacturer currently employs more than 300 in Hopkinton.
The Hopkinton site will serve as the company’s main research center for human health issues, and will include art lab facilities, a clean room and a warehouse. PerkinElmer has 25 centers of excellence around the world.
PerkinElmer purchased the Elm Street facility from Caliper Life Sciences for $600 million in 2011.
