David Perini, the former president and CEO of Perini Corp. in Framingham, is stepping down from his position as commissioner of the state Division of Capital Asset Management.
Perini spent 37 years with Perini Corp., including 27 years as president and CEO. He became DCAM commissioner in 2000 under former Gov. Paul Cellucci and was reappointed by Gov. Deval Patrick in 2007.
During the past decade at DCAM Perini has overseen the construction of new courthouses in Worcester, Plymouth and Fall River, as well as the redevelopment of Foxborough State Hospital and the construction of a $300-million mental health facility in Worcester, which is currently underway. Perini also instituted construction management at-risk, a construction delivery method that allows more flexibility and fragmentation of construction projects.
Perini plans to step down once Patrick names a successor.
