Deborah Penta, CEO of Westboro-based PENTA Communications, has been named to the Worcester Community Action Council Inc. Board of Directors (WCAC).
The WCAC is the locally designated agency for the Economic Opportunity Act, and is one of 25 action agencies in Massachusetts, helping to service over 15,000 people on a yearly basis in Central Massachusetts. The WCAC was born out of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, an initiative that spurred the creation of over one thousand Community Action Agencies. The WCAC provides programs in fuel assistance, food stamps, and GED preparation, among others.
The WCAC boasts a tripartite board of directors, with each member representing three sectors: low-income, private, and public. On Penta's nomination to the board, chairman Jack Foley said, "The WCAC board enthusiastically endorsed Deborah, whose impressive track record includes marketing, public relations, fund development, and event planning. She is a wonderful addition to our talented group of board leaders."
The WCAC provides services in Worcester and throughout southern Worcester County.
