One of the largest homebuilders in the country has purchased a planned subdivision in Hopkinton for $9 million with the intent of constructing 20 luxury homes.
Elmwood Farms III, a subdivision off of Blueberry Lane that is just over a mile south of the starting line for the Boston Marathon, was purchased by Toll Northeast V Corp. in a deal finalized on Feb. 6, according to Middlesex South Registry of Deeds records.
Toll Northeast is managed by Toll Brothers, a Pennsylvania-based Fortune 500 company that is one of the largest builders of luxury homes in the country, according to the company’s website.
The Elmwood Farms subdivision was originally approved in 1989, according to a letter from Toll Brother’s legal counsel sent to the Hopkinton Planning Board, but the lots include a part of the subdivision that was never constructed.
Toll Brothers plans to construct 20 single-family homes, according to planning board documents, which will involve the construction of two new streets in the neighborhood that will connect to Blueberry Lane.
The lots were purchased from 31 Lawrence Street LLC, a corporation based in Mendon that still owns several lots in the surrounding area.
Toll Brothers is working to gain necessary approvals from the Hopkinton Planning Board for the project, with a continuation of the discussion expected at the board’s March 5 meeting.
