The number of pending single-family home and condominium sales climbed in August, as did the median price of the agreed-upon sales, according to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors (MAR).
“A more stable economy, better jobs picture and low interest rates continue to push buyer demand in this market,” MAR President Peter Ruffini said in a statement.
Pending single-family home sales in August increased 15.7 percent over August 2013. The 4,994 homes placed under agreement are the most for any August since MAR began tracking the data in 2004. The median price of the homes put under agreement also climbed 2.2 percent over August 2013.
Meanwhile, pending condo sales were up 10.7 percent, the MAR said, while the median price for condos placed under agreement rose 1.4 percent.
This is the 18th straight month of year-over-year increases in pending single-family home and condo sales, according to the MAR.
