The National Association of Realtors‘ index of pending home sales was down 0.7 percent in October compared to the previous month.
The index tracks sales of previously-owned homes and was down 1 percent compared to the same month a year ago.
The association reported a 0.6 percent gain in the index for the Northeast and a 7.8 percent gain in the South, but other regions saw declines between 4.3 percent and 8.7 percent.
