In the first positive residential real estate news in a long while, the number of Bay State homes put under agreement for sale increased in May by 2.1 percent compared to the same month last year.
That’s the first year-over-year increase in homes under agreement in Massachusetts since December 2010, according to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.
The number of single-family homes put under agreement in May totaled 4,760, up from 4,663 in 2010.
Condominium activity also picked up, increasing by 1 percent compared to last year.
