After a snowy February, pending homes sales in Massachusetts rebounded last month, indicating a potential rise in transactions for the spring, according to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors (MAR).
The number of single-family homes put under agreement in March rose 4.6 percent compared with March 2012, marking the 22nd month out of the last 23 in which the state housing market has seen year-over-year increases.
Pending sales of condominiums, meanwhile, rose for the 23rd straight month with a jump of 9.4 percent. They were up a robust 48 percent over February; the MAR said a significant rise from February to March is typical.
MAR President Kimberly Allard-Moccia said there is still a lack of available homes for sale, but it was "encouraging" to see activity turn upward last month after several weekends of stormy weather in February kept many would-be buyers indoors.
