Gov. Deval Patrick's office has launched a new website designed to be a clearinghouse for information related to health care cost control measures in Massachusetts.
The new website comes as a new phase of health care reform is implemented. Signed into law by Patrick in August, the reforms are aimed at reducing health care costs by nearly $200 billion over the next 15 years through measures like malpractice reform, new technology, addressing market power and promoting wellness. The new law is effective Nov. 5.
The website offers access to implementation updates, the elements of the law, notice of upcoming events, and a portal connecting to state health care agencies, according the Patrick administration. New resources will be added to the site in the coming weeks, which will provide information on how cost containment efforts will benefit businesses, consumers and providers, the administration said.
In addition, the Patrick administration is planning forums to update stakeholders on cost containment measures, with the first forum slated for Oct. 10 in Boston.
