Gov. Deval Patrick will be in Worcester today to visit with students and educators at Dynamy Youth Academy before heading to Mechanics Hall for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette's Visions Ceremony.
Patrick is expected at 2:30 p.m. at the academy. He will honor Raquel Castro, an educator at Dynamy, for exemplary service and highlight the school's work in preparing low-income and at-risk students for college, a Patrick spokesman said Wednesday morning. Castro also recently received an award in New York City from the National Child Labor Committee for her service to children.
Dynamy, located on Sever Street, is a division of YOU Inc., a city-based child welfare and behavioral health nonprofit.
At Mechanics Hall, Patrick will speak during a ceremony to honor five Greater Worcester individuals who have made "notable contributions to the social, educational, economic and cultural life of the greater Worcester community," according to the T&G.
This year's honorees include Mary C. DeFeudis, Robert L. Moylan Jr., James A. Welu and Benjamin T. Wood.
The event begins at 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
