Oxford Immunotec offers new test in U.S.

Oxford Immunotec, with U.S. headquarters in Marlborough, has announced a test to evaluate potential rejection of transplanted organs will be available for use in the U.S.

The T-SPOT®.PRT test allows health care providers to evaluate the body’s reaction to foreign tissue and better understand the likelihood of a rejection event. A T cell immune response to a donated organ can lead to T cell mediated rejection and potentially hurt the survival of the transplanted organ.

This test may help clinicians identify patients at increased risk of TCMR, which in turn may guide decisions regarding immunosuppressive therapies, according to Oxford Immunotec. The test will be available this year in the U.S., with a full commercial launch in 2017, according to the company.
